What's the real reason behind the riots in India
Reservation! This episode of Indian politics is known as Mandal Vs. Kamandal politics. The mandal represents justice mandal report on caste as a criteria for Reservation. And Kamandal represents the babri masjid demolition.
These two image are defining image of Indian politics in 1990s. The karyakartas of VHP and BJP standing on babri masjid and self-immolation of Rajeev Goswami, a student of DU university in protest of reservation.
RSS and it's political outfit Jan Sangh (Now called BJP) were opposed to reservation policy, as majority of their vote base was upper caste Hindus. But, RSS soon realised that their battle of anti-reservation was on the losing side. They were in a dire need of some other issue to garner votes. (This was the issue of Babri Masjid.) L. K. Advani took upon himself to spread the issue of Babri masjid with his Rath Yatra.
The Supreme Court judgement on reservation famously known as Indra Sawhney case was delivered on November 16, 1992 giving reservation to lower caste in educational institutions.
The frustration of RSS/BJP losing the anti-reservation battle resulted into destruction of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992.
How did Godhra riots occurred?
A meeting was arranged by VHP and BJP to commemorate the 10 years celebration of destruction of Babri Majid (1992–2002). When train carrying karyakartas of VHP and BJP returning from the meeting reached Godhra station, it encountered stones and fireballs from near by muslim areas. One of the fireball landed in a compartment that resulted into 50 deaths.
This in turned resulted into revenge of Hindus by killing Muslims.
The other story related to babri masjid is the Mumbai riots and the rise of Bal Thackeray.
To revenge the killing of Muslims during the mumbai riots, 7 bombs were planted in different areas of Mumbai by Tiger and Yakub Menon.
