Swathi is what is called in military as a weapon-locating radar (WLR)

So, what does a weapon-locating radar do? Detect where exactly a dude is sitting with a gun in hand??? Hahahhahahah, technically nope. Swathi is not made for that.
Rather, Swathi ‘s role is
- Detecting from where exactly an adversary is firing anything from a mortal or rocket shell to an artillery shell
- Finding out where exactly one of the friendly shells fell in the enemy territory, as per which necessary fire corrections would be given as an output.
So if there is a fellow who for example, fires a mortar at my place, and if I have that thing above activated, I will come to know exactly from where it came, and I can send my own mortar to tell him hello. It is in use by India army when it comes to cross-border firings for quite some time.
Now when it comes to outshining the Russian and Polish equivalents, I don’t have much knowledge on what exactly were the competitors to the Swathi WLR proposed by Russia and Poland, but whatever they were, seems Swathi was better and more affordable than their ones.
