The Gorkha regiment was formerly a part of British Indian Army, but ever since Independence it became an indispensable part of the Indian Army.

The Gorkha Regiment is know for its courage in the battlefield which is discernible by the gallantry awards won by the Gorkha soldiers and the battle honour awards awarded to the Gorkha battalions.Out of 7 Gorkha Regiments, 11 Gorkha Rifles have been part of almost all the operations undertaken by the Indian army after independence.
2. Parachute Regiment -
Formed in 1966, the Para Commandos are part of the highly-trained Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army and are the largest part of the Special Forces of India. The parachute units of the Indian Army are among the oldest airborne units in the world.
