The Undertaker: Last Ride after WWE Money In The Bank was over on the WWE Network. It’d present an in-depth look at his illustrious career which is inching closer to the end.
We don’t how many times we’d see him around but there’s a lot to his story that we can hear about. Trimming down his Deadman character and be the real Mark Callaway will just help to bring out those stories.
While speaking to ESPN, recently, The Undertaker talked about his WrestleMania 33 encounter against Roman Reigns. He stated that he was “disgusted” to see that match at the back. The Phenom was so much unhappy with his performance that he could not watch it in rewind,
“That was one of those times it was tough having the cameras there. That was the first time that I watched that match back. I was so disgusted with it that I didn’t want to watch it back.”
In 2017 WrestleMania, the plan was to put over Roman Reigns as the face of the WWE brand by letting him pick a win over The Undertaker. He is the second man only to beat The Undertaker at the grandest stage of them all. In order to make Reigns look stronger, ‘Taker had to bring the very best out of him. But unfortunately, he couldn’t.
While memorizing the match, The Undertaker focused on things that he could have done differently during the match. Once the match was over, he left his hat, coat, and gloves in the middle of the ring as a gesture that was looked up to as a sacred thing. A lot of fans thought that contest might be his last due to his after-match rituals as well as the bad performance.
The Undertaker continued saying that even after Brock Lesnar broke the WrestleMania streak in 2014, his name still meant something which was needed to push younger superstars. Based on that, he tried to do the very best for Roman Reigns, but he was still very much disappointed with the outcome.
“As I got older … I know when I’m out there and I’m moving slow. I know when my limp is more prominent that it may be. Or when I’m behind in a spot. I just know now. “[Watching that match], I’m battling with it. I was so disappointed for Roman.” The Undertaker stated.
“Even after Brock Lesnar beat the streak, for guys coming up to have a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania — especially where Roman was at — it was important for his career. Especially because he was going over. For me, in that role, I wanted to do the very best that I could do for Roman. I think the world of him. The good thing is the bitter memory was wiped out in this year’s performance delivered by The Undertaker at WrestleMania. He was in the best shape of recent times after returning as the American Badass to take out AJ Styles in the first-ever Boneyard Match. It turned out to be the best match of the entire two-night show earnings appreciation from fans and the critics.
