In 2014 Himachal Pradesh high court banned animal sacrifice (bali), a long tradition of sacrificing animals for religious reasons, deeming the practise cruel and barbaric.[1]

It was after three in 2017, ‘animal sacrifice’ back in practice after three years gap with some riders, as per interim relief by the Supreme Court. Though with some restrictions. Sometimes SC takes absurd decisions.
Recently Tripura High court banned animal sacrifice of animals or birds for religious reasons in all temples of the state.[3]
Animal sacrifice in temples is only banned in certain places and legal in some places with PCA Act.
The Prevention of cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act prevent the infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering on animals. [4]
The PCA act provides for a procedure of killing animals so as to cause them least pain and trauma.
Animal sacrifice is not confined to a single religion. Whether its Hinduism or Islam.
Now comes to festivals celebrated in Islam require animal sacrifice.
