The chief of staff also said that 36 Pilot trainer aircraft from Switzerland and Hawk aircraft from Britain would not be purchased to encourage domestic manufacturers. It is learned that instead of buying Pilot trainer aircraft for Rs 1,000 crore, the Air Force will buy 70 HTT-40 aircraft manufactured by HAL this time. The planes will be used to train pilots.
