Yass, it's Mr. Karan Johar. Some people might like and respect him, sorry to offend you but truth has to be spoken.
He belongs to an influential family and owns a production company which kinda makes him very powerful and also, thanks to his friendly ties with the Bollywood biggies. His production house Dharma has so far only launched star kids like Alia Bhatt, Varun, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, and the recent Ananya Pandey.
It is not just about launching them but if he likes a particular star kid very much he makes sure they always have movies in their kitties and promote them to such an extent that each and everyone in the country knows them. You might say that he also launched outsiders like Siddharth and Tara sutaria but the bias is clear. For eg: Ananya and Tara were launched together but Ananya was given more preference than Tara and despite being a known face, it was Ananya who got more reach (check their Instagram followers). Their role in soty2 was also accordingly given.
Alia Bhatt is a really good actress - I agree, but if it was not for Karan she would've never made it this big in Bollywood. He made sure that she always gets the best movies and never failed to promote her. For instance, Koffee with Karan always has Alia and Varun.

She’s Shweta Tripathi. Gorgeous and a very talented actress. Some of her previous works have been amazing but you know what, she's nowhere close to Alia Bhatt in terms of popularity, status and reach.
This scenario won't change until there is Karan Johar and some others like him.
