It uses along a thin tube called catheter that has a small Balloon. They inflate the balloon on its tip flatten or compress the clot against the artery wall. This is called an angioplasty.

Inserting a stent is a small mesh-like device made up of metal. When a stent is placed inside a coronary artery, it acts as a support by keeping vessels open. The stent helps to improve blood flow to the heart muscle to reduce the pain of angina.

The patient did balloon angioplasty are at the risk of more clout in the treated area. This is called restenosis. Restenosis is prevented by coating the stent with blood-thinning medicines and by using none metal stents which will dissolve into the artery over time.
