shocking secrets of Ramayana

Here are some of the secrets from the Ramayana,

• Sita meets Surpanakha in the forest after Lakshman leaves her there due to Ram’s order.
• Urmila, Sita’s younger sister, and Lakhsman’s wife slept for 14 years so that Lakshman could stay awake all the 14 years protecting Ram and Sita.

• Jay and Vijay - the gatekeepers of Vishnu’s world were cursed by Brahma’s sons to be born on Earth. They were born three times as the Lord’s enemies - Hiranyaksha & Hiranyakashapa in Sat Yuga, Ravana and Kumbhakarna in Treta Yuga, Dantavakra and Shishupala in Dwapara Yuga.

• The Lakshman Rekha is a myth that is not mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana.
• Dasharatha had 300+ wives though his 3 main wives are whom we all know - Kausalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi.
• Rama had an elder sister by the name Shanta. She was adopted by Romapada a friend of Dasharath’s and was married to the Sage Rishyashringa.

• In Tulsidas’s Ramayana, it is mentioned that in Sita’s Swayamvar, Lord Rama had lifted the bow and arrow of Lord Shiva and it broke. However, there is no mention of this event (Sita’s swayamwar) in Valmiki’s Ramayana.
